Designer says rear‑facing alterations at 908 West Main could be handled administratively; commissioners ask for samples
Summary
Applicant Tyler La Bridal presented a plan to reorganize rear elevations, swap/resize windows and add doors to restore original sightlines; staff said rear work conforms to guidelines and could be administratively reviewed but several commissioners pushed for a full board review with material/window samples because of the number of changes.

Tyler La Bridal, the applicant for work at 908 West Main Street, told the DRC the intent is to restore the house’s original sequencing by reorganizing mismatched windows, replacing some smaller kitchen windows and adding a set of doors to create a safe rear entry and landing. He described the plan as focused on the rear of the building and emphasized reuse where feasible: "We're hoping to reuse some of the windows... and we're hoping that because we're swapping 1 for 1 that we actually get the bricks to move too so that the bricks match perfectly."
Staff confirmed the rear work is supported by the guidelines and said it "could be administratively reviewed and issued a COA by staff," but multiple commissioners asked for more detail before relying on staff approval. Commissioners requested a physical sample of the window, clearer roof/awning details and masonry matching plans; one commissioner said given the number of alterations they would prefer the project come to a voting meeting so the commission can review material samples and the awning proportions.
