The City of Montrose council voted unanimously to award the Clement Avenue improvement contract to Knife River Corporation of Sauk Rapids for $1,229,208.40. City Engineer Jared (SEG 270) told the council the city received six bids for the project, with a low bid of $1,229,208.40 and other bids up to $1,778,000.
“We received six bids for the project... The low bid was submitted by Knife River Corporation of Sauk Rapids in the amount of $1,229,208.40,” the city engineer said. Jackie Knight confirmed how the city will pay: “We are planning to pay for the project in cash.” Council member David Paradise moved the resolution to accept the bid and award the contract; the motion was seconded and the council recorded a 4–0 vote to approve the award. The resolution was listed in the council packet as Resolution No. 2026-35.
The engineer said the bid is below the original project estimate (the overall project budget had been about $2,000,000 and estimates showed $1.34 million anticipated). Council did not specify a construction start date in the public discussion; staff told the council they would return with scheduling and contract documents as part of normal project implementation.
