The Bath tree board reported an updated tree inventory prepared by Bartlett Tree Experts that evaluated 597 trees and identified 41 that qualify as heritage trees. The board provided an assessed value of $995,000.15 for the surveyed trees and said the inventory will help the town plan maintenance, hazard removal, and grant applications.
The tree board representative (speaker 8) said heritage trees are tagged in the digital inventory and many are estimated at around 100 years old; cemetery trees in older sections may be older. The inventory will support grant applications for preservation work, including soil fertilization and bracing where needed, and will guide decisions about trees that must be removed to protect persons and property.
