Brandon Duffy of Great West Engineering briefed the Prairie County Board of Commissioners on March 11 on replacement and repair plans for two county structures. He said the Highway 340 project—replacement with a box culvert and associated detour—has an estimated cost of $340,000 and is expected to go to bid in late April 2026 with an anticipated finish date of October 1, 2026.
Duffy also reviewed options for Bridge 4084, which crosses the Buffalo Rapids ditch and has a steep alignment; he said the current repair estimate is approximately $305,000 and that any work likely would wait until the Buffalo Rapids ditch is closed in October to allow construction access. Commissioners discussed material and design options and the county's grading of a track at the local school to assist access.
