Prairie County commissioners voted to extend their on-call engineering agreement with Brave West for one year, carrying the contract through May 2026 to keep county projects covered while staff prepares a procurement for a new term. Speaker 4 told the group the original five-year agreement executed on 05/18/2020 allows up to three one-year extensions and recommended using the first extension now to "get us squared up."
Commissioner discussion focused on timing and next steps for re-advertising the work. Speaker 2 moved to approve the one-year extension and staff confirmed the extension would be backdated to cover the period since the contract expired in May 2025. Speaker 5 called the vote; a voice vote passed the motion. Staff will prepare the short extension document and place the procurement schedule on the May agenda for further direction.
