City plans 12-unit supportive housing effort with $650,000 federal homeless grant

City staff described a $650,000 federal homeless (HUD) grant the city is administering in partnership with Saint Vincent de Paul to support a Timely House supportive-housing project. Community Development staff said the grant will cover environmental and engineering work and help kick-start horizontal infrastructure (water, sewer) to create approximately 12 living units for families transitioning to stable housing.
"We have partnered with Saint Vincent de Paul's... Timely House housing project," Christy Gilbert said, describing the existing model and the plan for a site at Pear and Central. Finance Director Tammy Trowbridge noted that the grant allows a 10% administration charge and that local administration funds would help pay staff time spent managing the program.
Gilbert and staff also described related grant work and engineering for Oak Street Commons and said the city is coordinating environmental review with DEQ. The committee approved the special-revenue funds budget, which includes the $650,000 grant program and related administration, by voice vote.
