Board members asked clarifying questions and then approved the handbook updates on a 5–0 vote. The changes take effect for district transportation employees and are intended to incentivize driver attendance and provide a mechanism to recover instructional time when remote learning is used.
The board noted the handbook language mirrors existing staff policies for teachers in areas such as seniority-based allocations for personal days.
