Chair said engineers will propose layouts that could include multi-floor designs so the county would not be limited to a single-story structure. Several members raised concerns the field in front of the jail could be "too far out of town" and suggested looking at land behind the old jail or the bus garage site. Chair confirmed the county owns the land in front of the jail and said staff will relay member concerns to the engineering team ahead of the next meeting.
No formal decision was made; staff will receive engineering layouts from Saint John Engineering and bring them back for committee review.
