Chamber reports TBIS activity, membership and outreach; asks council to consider operational support

Jacob Fraga, board chair of the Tulare Chamber of Commerce, and Donette presented the Chamber's annual report and the first-year update for the Tulare Business & Innovation Site (TBIS). Fraga opened the presentation: "I am Jacob Fraga, board chair of the Tulare Chamber of Commerce," and Donette outlined membership and programming numbers, including 631 members, more than 75 events and 408 attendees at TBIS workshops.
Donette said TBIS workshop programming has emphasized bilingual cohorts and partnerships with major tech and local business supporters; the Chamber is currently supplementing TBIS operating costs while it completes its first year of operation. "The chamber is definitely supplementing this program with its budget," Donette said when asked about TBIS finances, and she noted the chamber may submit a formal funding request for council consideration.
Council members asked for budget details and for program metrics showing businesses launched from TBIS programming. Donette said the chamber tracks inquiries, space usage and workshop attendance and will provide additional data if council requests it. Council thanked the chamber for its work and encouraged continued collaboration on economic-development aims.
