Fortuna begins adoption of 2025 California Building Code; council sets second hearing for Aug. 3

Council members asked how the change would affect active permits; staff clarified that existing building permits remain under the 2022 code while permits issued after the effective date will fall under the new code. The council introduced and held the first reading of Ordinance 20 26-787 and scheduled the second reading and adoption for August 3, 2026.
