Melina Basler, speaking for the staff pillar, told the meeting the district’s retention results are strong: average monthly retention across the year was 99.48% and preliminary contract-return numbers show 99.04% of staff intending to return.
Basler said the district administers multiple pulse surveys during the year and reported increases of roughly 6 percentage points on categories such as managing student behavior, school climate satisfaction and professional learning. Recruitment strategies highlighted include Walk‑in Wednesdays (which previously produced 230 applicants), a teacher job fair (88 applicants this year), an employee referral program, and a future‑educator pathway tied to regional partners. Basler also noted the first Option 9 cohort graduated under an MOA with NKU; four people completed the program and two have already been offered district teaching positions.
Next steps emphasized district videos and concierge-like local-business partnerships to highlight employee benefits and to continue growing apprenticeship and pipeline opportunities for future educators.
