ODOT regional and project managers presented a detailed construction update for the Abernathy/I‑205 bridge. Vidal Francis (project area manager) said the project is about 78% complete on the current pay estimate and that the contractor's translation plan—required to widen the main span—was submitted and accepted; translation is tentatively scheduled for October 2026. "The contractor's monitored performance…resulted in a negative score…a negative 36," Francis said, triggering mandatory corrective action plans.
Travis Brower (deputy director for delivery) told commissioners the agency expects additional near‑term expenditures averaging about $1.5 million per month for construction engineering through the extended period and recommended seeking roughly $25 million now to cover inspection, a fuel escalation allowance (about $1.5M) and owner's representative costs already incurred ($2.5M). Staff also reported a preliminary estimate of $100–130 million to complete required ground improvements for seismic resiliency and said they will return with a refined finance plan and programming request.
