Interim ODOT director named as commission thanks outgoing leader

The Oregon Transportation Commission opened its meeting by thanking outgoing interim director Lisa Sumption for her leadership and service during a difficult period for the agency. Chair Brown and several commissioners praised Sumption for stabilizing staff and outreach; Commissioner Baker said staff ‘‘made a great amount of difference’’ during a challenging time.
Chris Warner introduced himself after being asked by commissioners to step in as interim director. "I'm currently the governor's chief of staff…I'm looking forward to making the transition…to be the interim ODOT director," Warner said, adding he wants to "continue the work Lisa has done in terms of steadying the ship." Warner described a long background in transportation and said he is prepared to answer commissioners' questions as the agency looks for a permanent director.
