The program will award a total of $5,000 to schools serving Winter Park students. Board members asked about whether proposals should be judged on whether projects are "duplicable" by students in the future (one member used the example of an exercise bike with a smoothie maker). Staff advised keeping the application process open and allowing the board to consider duplicability when apportioning funds at award time.
Members agreed to review proposed language and any recommended changes at the August meeting so the board can finalize criteria in time for the planned September RFP distribution.
