Aurora schedules library help sessions and door-knocking as special-census outreach ramps up

Shannon Cameron said the special-census mailer program began July 22 and that each household will receive four mailings (two letters and two postcards) with a unique code needed to complete the online questionnaire. “So it's really important you hand you hold on to those and keep them in a special place,” she said.
Deputy Mayor Casey Cuevas described in-person assistance plans: Santore Library staff and city teams will provide computers and tablets on July 30 (9 a.m.–12 p.m.) and August 3 (3:30–5:30 p.m.) for residents without devices, and city staff will door-knock during the Internet self-response period to offer help and on-the-spot tablet completion. Cuevas said staff will wear IDs and city shirts so residents can confirm their affiliation.
Panelists said residents should fill out the survey online as soon as they receive the mailer; Shannon noted that online responses reduce the need for Census Bureau follow-up. Mayor Lash emphasized that city-led door-knocking must end on August 24 under federal rules, after which federal enumerators will begin phone calls and visits.
