Council Asks for More Information on Proposed $50,000 Haven House BE Grant

EDC staff told the council the Haven House had applied for a BE grant to build an outer building and that documentation supports a request up to the maximum grant amount of $50,000. "The Haven House is wanting to do some expansion... they actually have provided us with documentation to spend," the presenter said, adding the amount could be about $50,000 as a maximum grant.
Several council members said the grant application as submitted did not make clear how the expansion would boost customer numbers or business activity. One council member said, "this is not really, in my opinion, an enhancement to bring more business in," and another said the Haven House's answers did not adequately address that question. The council requested the EDC director provide additional information and clarifications on expected increased activity before the council acts on the grant.
No vote on the grant was recorded at the meeting; the presenter agreed to return with further answers and to review any necessary VE grant language changes.
