Beachside Tavern enforcement draws attorney input; board sets Sept. 12 compliance target

Officer John Parks walked the board through a year-long enforcement history for Beachside Tavern LLC at 690 East 3rd Avenue, saying the case had originally been slated for a special magistrate but was moved to the code board. Parks described unpermitted pavers, fencing, seating and a prior restroom trailer and summarized ongoing communications between the owner, building department and attorneys. "There has been a lot of communication with this property owner over the last year," Parks said, and staff recommended a compliance date of Sept. 12, 2025, with fines of $100 per day thereafter (max $25,000).
Attorney Corey Brown appeared on behalf of the property and said applications for the necessary permits had been submitted recently and asked the board for sufficient time to allow the city to review and inspect. "Provided that the city can work through this process and issue the approvals, permits, whatnot, for this property within 30 days... we can make this work and get everything squared away," Brown said. The board accepted staff's recommendation to set Sept. 12 as the compliance review date and directed respondents to contact the code inspector.
