Council OKs honorary 'Ken Wilson Way' on Farnham Avenue at Wilson Toole campus

The Hugo City Council approved an honorary street-name designation Monday that will mark the portion of Farnham Avenue leading into the Wilson Toole campus as "Ken Wilson Way." Staff told the council the city lacks a formal policy for honorary street names but recommended approval because the honorary sign would be mounted under the official green street sign and would not change the street's legal name.
Dave Castle, speaking for Wilson Toole, described Ken Wilson's local and business legacy and identified himself as the company's facility manager. "I'm here to speak on behalf of Wilson Toole. I'm Dave Castle. I've been at Wilson Toole 32 years," Castle said, and encouraged the council to approve the request as a way to honor Wilson's 60th company anniversary and his 90th birthday. Council member Crowley moved to accept the request and the motion passed with the ayes carrying.
Staff noted the honorary sign would be blue, installed below the official green city street sign, and that Wilson Toole agreed to be invoiced for the sign's fabrication. Council discussion was brief and largely congratulatory; no opposition was recorded and the honorary designation was approved during new business.
