Superintendent outlines summer construction, open houses and transportation deadlines

Superintendent Larson briefed the board on summer facilities work across the district, urging the public to avoid sites until finishing is complete. He said the Birkman Valley Elementary project is in final punch-list stages and is slated to open for the 2026–27 school year; the schools open house is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. "Birkman Valley Elementary will be ready to open for the fall of the 26 school year," Larson said when describing the project status.
Larson also warned of several nearby road projects that could affect routes, including work on the Iron Wood connection, Holly Boulevard, Veterans Parkway and the Highway 42 Bridge (anticipated bid timelines were noted). On transportation operations, Larson said bus-pass registration is open, the deadline is July 31, and a transportation department open house will be held Tuesday, July 28 with extended hours (7 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
