She warned that new lines—created to account for paid family medical leave across cost centers—appear negative in the packet because the district placed them as placeholders until auditors reclassify them. "If you have looked at the budget document, you're going to see a whole bunch of new lines," she said.
On tuition, Emily said the district budgeted a 4% overall increase with two additional students per grade span. She reported the 6–8 tuition rose by 1% and 9–12 rose by 5.4%, and that enrollment matched projections. Emily also noted vocational-program tuition (BRCTC) is lower than the high-school tuition and that higher-than-expected vocational enrollment could produce about $65,000 in savings to help cover unexpected costs or carry forward.
Emily also updated the board on assessments and attendance: the district is in the winter testing window to inform RTI/MTSS meetings, and she reported 54 school days in the second quarter with 7 students qualifying for chronic absenteeism; she reported no current truancy cases.
