CDD counsel says Corkscrew Road ownership opinion unchanged; CDD to participate in Pelican Sound Safeguard Panel

District Counsel Tony Pires told the board his opinion on ownership of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) has not changed after retrieving his documents. Chair Bob Schultz reported the Village of Estero engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and walkways to identify repairs; PSGRC President Neil Collins said town‑hall discussions are focusing on the U.S. 41/Corkscrew intersection and the east side of Corkscrew, while Mr. Wilhems confirmed the study will include the west side as well.
Separately, Mr. Schultz said the CDD will participate in the Pelican Sound Community Safeguard Panel: Mr. Keith Merrill will represent the CDD on Objective 2 (community mitigation from natural disasters) and Mr. Robert Twombly will represent the CDD on Objective 4 (improving street safety). Eric Long said he circulated an Action Plan with seven objectives and will provide an update after the panel’s first meeting in December. Mr. Krebs said the sidewalk inspection report and repair estimates will be presented at the January meeting.
