Trappe Council approves MD Rural Water apprenticeship program

President Newnam moved that Trappe enter the MD Rural Water Association apprenticeship program for both water and wastewater; Commissioner Walter Chase seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council noted MD Rural Water currently has grant funding to cover required coursework and some supplemental services. The program includes separate tracks for water and wastewater and those tracks cannot be completed simultaneously, meaning the Town would need to schedule participation accordingly.
The vote authorizes staff to finalize enrollment and accept any associated grant terms; the council did not specify implementation dates for apprenticeships or identify candidates at this meeting.
