Council approves multiple liquor licenses, sidewalk-cafe permit and several municipal contracts

Licenses: Council approved a bundled motion to renew multiple Class A and Class B beer and liquor retail licenses, sidewalk cafes and other permits for local establishments including Aldi, Magellan's, Pick 'n Save locations, and others. Magellan's sidewalk-cafe permit was removed from the consent bundle for separate review after engineering recommended a clear pedestrian width; after discussion the council approved Magellan's sidewalk-cafe permit consistent with the ordinance requiring a minimum of 4 feet clear width and no anchoring into the right-of-way.
Contracts: On staff recommendation and board referrals, council approved competitive bids for capital and maintenance work: the 2025 Asphalt Street Utility Repair contract to Always Contractors ($203,545); Cemetery Administration Building HVAC replacement to Hennis ($92,410); Clean Water Plant Phase 3 improvements (dryer addition) to J.F. Ahern Company (low bid, about $18.6 million); Prairie Home Cemetery Autumn Garden Fountain improvements to 4D Exteriors Landscapes ($45,000); and Gascoyne and Peters Drive utility and street improvements to Leilont Contractors (~$3,246,365). All motions passed on the respective roll calls.
