The Common Council voted to rezone a 0.61-acre parcel on Big Bend Road from T1 (temporary) to RS3 (single-family residential) to allow two new single-family homes for an Operation Finally Home project.
Doug, the planning staff presenter, said the parcel sits between sections of the road where most adjoining properties are single-family and that RS3 zoning would match neighboring uses. "It'll be 2 lots...2 single family homes," Doug said in response to a question about unit count. The plan commission recommended approval and no members of the public spoke during the open hearing. The council approved the rezoning by voice vote.
Councilmembers asked about utilities and whether duplexes could be built; staff answered that the new homes will be on sewer and water and that duplexes are not permitted under the RS3 zoning change.
