The Board of Adjustment voted to adopt its annual report after members discussed items that warrant additional review, including a contractor’s yard, decks and garages, and accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
One board member said the council recommendation "accurately reflected what we had discussed all year," and members agreed the report should add specificity on those topics. The board noted that ADUs are limited to 1,500 square feet under current interpretation and emphasized that they are not intended for rental use; members asked staff to make those clarifications in the final version of the report.
S1 moved to approve the annual report with a minor typo correction; the motion carried after an assent process that the board recorded by roll-call-style responses. Members thanked Tom for preparing the report and briefly discussed whether Tom could serve in a nonvoting, emeritus role to continue writing the report if he becomes ineligible to vote due to holding or seeking another office.
