District contractor outlines summer 2026 start for major Redmond High and Tumalo projects

Chad Franke of HMK told the Redmond School Board on May 28 that the design phase for two major bond-funded projects — Redmond High and Tumalo — is moving forward with construction activities planned to take place between summer 2026 and summer 2027. Franke said the district is coordinating what work can be accomplished this summer while final design continues.
Franke listed current summer bid and contract priorities, including Vern Patrick roofing, replacement of cooling systems at Ridgeview High, athletic fields and tracks at both high schools, and tennis courts at Ridgeview High. He said the Bond Oversight Committee has met once for an overview of the committee and the bond promise; the first business committee meeting is scheduled for June 30, 2025, and meeting minutes will be posted online. No board action was required at the meeting.
The timetable means significant site and construction planning will be concentrated in the 2026 construction season, with follow‑up planning for additional projects at Tuck, Obsidian and Lynch slated for summer 2027. The board did not vote on project contracts at this meeting; Franklin (HMK) and staff indicated bids and contracts will be sought this summer.
