Council approves $2,500 contribution to Rural Oregon Community Foundation

Steve Holiday, president of the Rural Oregon Community Foundation, described the foundation’s community programming — Boots and Roots for fourth graders, fairground improvements, scholarships and partnerships with local organizations — and requested a $5,000 sponsorship for a fundraising dinner and program support. "The mission of the foundation is preserve the western way of life in Prineville, Crook County, and in rural Oregon," Holiday said, reciting recent scholarship totals and local events.
Councilors questioned whether the donation was primarily funding for a dinner versus program uses and discussed the foundation’s existing cash balance and prior grants. After deliberation, a motion to contribute $2,500 carried by voice vote and was accepted by Holiday with thanks.
