Prineville highlights dispatch staffing, swears in three recent hires

Katie Kemper, Prineville’s Public Safety Communications Director, gave the council an annual update during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week describing dispatcher duties, the roughly six- to eight-month training timeline to operate a console solo, and Oregon’s certification and ethics requirements for dispatchers.
Kemper introduced three recent graduates of the Basics academy who have begun roles in the department: Aubrey Robins was hired as a dispatcher, Ashley English as a public safety call taker, and Grace Leer as a public safety call taker. Kemper administered the Department of Public Safety and Training Code of Ethics to the three and had them sign as part of the certification process.
