Commission weighs rec center size, leans toward 25m pool after Redmond tour

On site selection, the Director said the Combs Flat Road property is the preferred location because the city owns the parcel, has built water/sewer/power infrastructure there, and the arterial road provides traffic capacity. He said locating the rec center there supports walkable access for the northern neighborhoods and avoids buying and rebuilding property near the high school.
Commissioners discussed alternative sites and competing interests such as a potential fairgrounds expansion; the Director emphasized the need to balance long-term facility goals with realistic maintenance and operational considerations.
