Council authorizes up to $25,000 in emergency park funds after storm damage

Following the storm, staff recommended using part of the park budget to pay for emergency repairs at Benzinger Park, where walking paths and sand in a volleyball court were washed out. Chuck explained the parks crew has been working on cleanup and replacement efforts and recommended council authorize up to $25,000 to cover any additional damage found.
"We're looking at up to 25,000, probably not gonna need that much, but we wanna have it just in case they find out some more damages," Chuck said. Council approved Resolution 26-19 by voice vote and agreed to reallocate funds from the current year's parks projects (including delaying resurfacing) to cover immediate repairs so crews do not have to return for additional appropriations during the season.
Staff said they will monitor actual costs and report back to council as needed.
