District facilities staff updated the board on capital projects involving older buildings and outdoor pavement work, including pickleball markings. The staff member said the district has "not accepted that payment yet" and that they will not proceed with additional work until the current work is accepted.
Staff explained that they will ask the contractor to paint a red-and-white line to better indicate pedestrian access and will hold final payment until the district accepts the work. The staff described the situation candidly: "It it's we're throwing good money after bad to try to fix what we've got. So we're gonna throw lipstick on a pig and call it done," but emphasized the district will not accept or finalize additional elements until the current scope is formally accepted.
Separately, facilities staff said they are coordinating floor maintenance schedules and finalizing placements for the coming year, and that they are working to get information to staff as quickly as possible to support start-of-year preparations.
