Communities in Schools representative tells board CIS supports students' social, academic and basic needs

Amu Burk of Communities in Schools of Northwest Michigan distributed a report and updated the Mancelona board on CIS services on June 23.
Burk told the board that CIS staff "supports students with social and/or emotional needs, behavior, students with low academic achievement, attendance concerns, and supplies basic need items." She summarized that CIS provides in-school support and resources targeted to students who need assistance beyond classroom instruction.
The report was presented during the consent and administrator reports portion of the meeting; board minutes show no public discussion or questions recorded in response to the presentation. The board accepted and recorded the presentation as part of the meeting materials.
