Highlights included authorization to hire Urban Lawn Care to perform brick-street repairs at $20 per square foot using the 2026 CIP project budget of $35,000; approval of an occupational license for Pete's Steakhouse contingent on issuance of a Kansas ABC liquor license; approval of a merchant police license renewal for Inner Parish Security Corporation (DBA IPSC); and authorization for the finance director to write off outstanding bank reconciliation items totaling $40,161.61 that predate 2018 and lack supporting documentation.
A commissioner asked for clarification about merchant police permits and which organizations typically use them; staff explained the permits apply to private security services used by entities such as Walmart, Benedictine College and others. After questions, the commission moved, seconded and approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
