The Atchison City Commission opened its meeting with an invocation and the administration of the oath of office to three newly seated commissioners. City Clerk Tina administered the oath for Laura Shaw Young, Jesse Greenlee and Bill Murphy, swearing each to “support the constitution and laws of the United States and the constitution and laws of the state of Kansas” and to “faithfully discharge the duties of Atchison City Commissioner.”
City Attorney Robert Campbell then called for nominations for mayor and vice mayor. La Rochelle was nominated and approved for mayor by voice vote; Larry Wilcox was nominated and approved for vice mayor. The commission recessed briefly for roll call and moved on to other agenda items.
