County auditor Cindy Garcia confirmed the total; the schedule presented to the court sets payments of $250,000 on Sept. 1, 2026, $250,000 on March 1, 2027, and the remaining $175,500 on Sept. 1, 2027. Sheriff Guy Baker clarified that asset-forfeiture funds (Chapter 59) should not be used to pay inmate housing because statute and criminal-code constraints limit such use; he said forfeiture funds are intended to enhance operations, not substitute for county obligations.
