Utility Superintendent Terry Ueding told council he would like to hire a part-time employee to paint gas meters; he said he had previously contacted the school about student community-service help but received no response. Several Main Street meters have been painted through prior community-service efforts, but many remain.
Council discussed the need to publicly advertise any new part-time position and requested the item be placed on next month’s agenda for further discussion. In the interim, the Utility Department was encouraged to begin painting meters with existing staff if feasible.
