Summary

During the meeting's press time, a reporter identified as Pat asked how tax collectors' pay is listed and whether it could be determined without a lengthy right-to-know request. County staff and the solicitor explained Pennsylvania's system for tax collectors and offered to supply specifics after the meeting.
Solicitor Elliot Salkove described tax collectors as independently elected and "entirely separate" from taxing authorities and the township, and he said he could not immediately confirm the full breakdown of collections and fees. County staff said the payment to tax collectors is set by resolution and typically paid "per bill" issued. One commissioner estimated a per-bill rate around $4.10 but staff said they would provide Pat the exact figure.
The Board also discussed that the county has roughly 15 townships and six boroughs and estimated about 21 tax collectors across the county, with one very small borough opting to have the county treasurer collect taxes because no local collector was available. Staff committed to follow up with the reporter on per-bill amounts and calculation details after the meeting.
