Beaumont’s public works staff recommended awarding the FY26 annual citywide street rehabilitation contract (R2601) to low bidder Madich with a base bid of $2,794,698. The project includes four additive bid items and a cooperative portion with the city of Banning for Highland Springs; Banning’s share is approximately $400,000. With additives and a recommended 10% contingency, the total construction authorization is $3,771,403.
Public Works staff said Highland Springs work will involve Caltrans and UPRR clearances and special specifications for traffic mitigation. Council asked about construction hours and inspection; staff said the contract contains guidelines for Highland Springs and in‑house inspectors will manage quality control. A motion to approve the public‑works agreement and contingency passed by roll call.
