Superintendent Pete told the board the district is working with McKinstry Consulting on a small-school modernization grant authorized by the Legislature. "Drew and Mona and myself are working currently with McKinstry Consulting," Pete said, and he described the authorized grant as having "the potential, for up to $6,000,000" to help bring district buildings up to clean-energy and modern building standards.
Pete said the district is in early steps of the grant process and has been in correspondence with the state's Department of Commerce, which is overseeing the program. He said McKinstry has experience helping other districts complete the paperwork and that the district expects to hear next from McKinstry later in the week. No decision was taken at the meeting; staff will return with further details as the process advances.
