"The ordinance included in the packet for consideration this evening is an ordinance that would approve the franchise fee agreement with Atmos Energy," Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bowden (speaker 5) said, explaining the city's role in renegotiating terms when long-standing franchise agreements expire. Bowden said the draft had been reviewed by special counsel Pete Heaven and was recommended for approval by staff.
A council member (speaker 9) moved to adopt the ordinance; the motion was seconded and the council voted 4-0 to pass Ordinance 987. The ordinance authorizes staff to finalize the franchise contract under the terms presented; council did not request material amendments during the discussion.
