Basehor council adopts updated five-year CIP, adds four projects and seeks $17 million in grants

"Included in the packet for consideration this evening is a resolution that would update the city's capital improvement plan or CIP for short...In total, our total requests for those grant applications were $17,000,000," Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bowden (speaker 5) told the council. Bowden said listing the projects in the CIP improves the city's competitiveness for grant funding and aligns with the governing body's long-term vision for capital projects.
Council member (speaker 2) asked for a specific description of the 155th Street Leavenworth Road Trail Connector, and Bowden said the project is a 10-foot-wide multiuse trail connecting Basehor Elementary School off Leavenworth Road east to 155th Street and north to Meyer Drive. Council member Sherry (speaker 6) moved to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded and passed 4-0.
The vote formally added the four projects to the CIP so staff can pursue the cited grant opportunities; no funding awards were announced at the meeting.
