Basehor police chief introduces Community Service Officer Tom Haas and Officer Noah Ortega

Chief Jeff Short introduced two new additions to Basehor's public-safety team and described their experience and roles.
"Tom is a neighborhood resident. He's a husband. He's a father. He's a proud grandfather. He's a United States veteran, and he's a retired police sergeant," Chief Short (speaker 8) said, praising Tom Haas's prior community-service work and animal-control experience. The chief noted Haas had provided similar services for other communities and called him a "Swiss army knife" for community events and services.
Chief Short also introduced Officer Noah Ortega, saying Ortega comes from Kansas City, Kansas, and brings law-enforcement training and a strong community focus. Both new officers were invited to the dais for photographs with elected officials and staff; the chief said the hires will be "real assets to our community." No formal council vote was recorded for these personnel introductions during the ceremonial portion of the meeting.
