Basehor city leaders presented a challenge coin to resident Sean Finley at the council meeting after Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bowden recounted a social-media post in which Finley described helping an older resident by picking up trash near a trail bin.
"When the mayor, city administrator, and I read this post, we were blown away," Bowden (speaker 5) said, adding that Finley's post and others like it are "a bright spot" and inspire officials to "work even harder to maintain Basehor as a great place to live." Bowden asked the mayor to present a challenge coin to Finley and invited him to receive photos with the governing body.
Mayor (speaker 1) and council members thanked Finley for his leadership and for encouraging others to pick up litter along the city's trails. The council recognized Finley as an example of citizens who support the city's goals for safe, attractive public spaces. No formal action or funding decision accompanied the presentation.
