WSAC to re-evaluate eight Regional Challenge Grant partnerships for reapplication

WSAC staff reported that eight participating regional partnerships are reapplying for the Regional Challenge Grant (RCG) program when current grant agreements end this fiscal year. Partnerships named include Foundation for Tacoma Students, Seattle Postsecondary Success Network, MPower Mentoring, Cornerstone-Chehalis School District, The STEM Foundation, Yakima Valley Partners for Education, Methow Valley School District and United Way of the Blue Mountains.
KC Deane described the RCG approach as regionally focused and said over the next months the team will review short-term outcome evidence and convene recommendations for the Council about funding and contracts. Staff emphasized a two-year grant cycle and four evaluation criteria — community responsiveness, partnership structure, evaluation and adaptation, and stewardship of public dollars — with materials to be shared in advance of the May council meeting and agreements to begin July 1.
