Planning director: single-family permit activity 'extremely high' in Basehor

Planning and Zoning Director Jim Sherman told the commission that single-family permit activity remains ‘‘extremely high’’ through the winter and that the city expects to see construction and infrastructure work following approvals. Sherman said developers and the homebuilding community have noticed Basehor and that several subdivisions have active submittals.
Sherman said commercial interest tends to surface later in the development cycle and that staff expects some commercial site-plan inquiries in late spring or early summer for properties already zoned and ready for site plans. He also previewed an upcoming planning tour intended to guide staff and commissioners on future development and architecture-related items.
