Staff explained how compliance will be enforced: photometric plans must be prepared and sealed by a licensed engineer and will be reviewed by the city’s engineering staff as part of site plan review. Sherman noted that ‘‘existing is as is’’—existing fixtures are grandfathered—but replacements or pole changes will trigger compliance with the new standards. Staff also said shields can be retrofitted to existing fixtures without voiding their UL listings.
