A rezoning request to change roughly 110 acres south of State Avenue to R-2 (two-family residential) passed the Basehor City Council by a 3-1 vote on Feb. 11. City Planner Alex Van Dyke told the council the comprehensive plan identifies the area as medium-density residential and that R-2 zoning allows single-family and duplex development.
Council members discussed how the rezoning fits nearby commercial uses and cited opportunities for entry-level rental units near new businesses. Council member Sherry moved to approve and referenced the staff report’s evaluation; the motion carried 3-1 with Vicky voting no.
