The Basehor City Council voted to rezone a 21-acre parcel at the southwest corner of 158th Street and State Avenue from R-0 (agricultural) to CP-2 (general business) on Feb. 11. City Planner Alex Van Dyke said the property is the last vacant corner of the intersection and that the comprehensive plan designates the State Avenue corridor for commercial uses; both staff and the planning commission recommended approval.
Council member Sherry moved to approve the rezoning and referenced the staff report’s evaluation of the "golden criteria". The motion passed unanimously (4-0). Van Dyke noted that rezoning does not authorize development itself; any future building proposals would return to the city for review.
