Planning staff, developer say Pinehurst Ridge aligns with Basehor comprehensive plan

Leslie Riverola told the council this item was a remand from a prior council meeting and that the planning commission had re-evaluated the case at the council's request. Planning and zoning director Jim Sherman summarized the commission's review, saying the commission reconsidered conformance with the comprehensive plan, site suitability and public-health impacts and ultimately voted unanimously to forward an approval recommendation for the northern and southern tracks under consideration.

Developer Chris Colson, representing Ad Astra Development, described the Pinehurst Ridge project and said it "matches what the city's comprehensive plan calls for." Colson said the developer will screen the site with a roughly 200-foot-wide tree line, propose single-family homes, construct a collector road and fund a second lift station and sanitary sewer connections to help nearby Ginger Creek link to city sewer. Staff and the applicant said the recommendation returned the decision to the council for a simple-majority vote because the item had been remanded.
