Helena Township supervisors back annexation of Harvest Fields; raise paving and maintenance concerns

John Warmskirchen, a Helena Township supervisor, told the commission the township supports annexation under the existing orderly annexation agreement and described the process as straightforward: "We're in favor of the annexation... It's just, you know, finding that footprint of what wants to be annexed and working with our attorney and your attorney, and it goes pretty smooth. So timely matter, I would say, within a month." Warmskirchen'9s comment signaled township cooperation with the procedural next steps.

Ed Nides, another Helena Township supervisor, asked about surfacing and paving of roads that are currently gravel, suggesting that some stretches (for example up toward the church on the east) could remain gravel long after initial build-out and might impose costs on the township. Commissioners and staff responded that a traffic impact study will inform required roadway improvements and that development-driven upgrades (such as to Alton Avenue) typically occur only when adjacent development justifies them.

Both supervisors and the commission discussed cost-sharing and timing considerations informally; no specific intergovernmental agreement or payment schedule was adopted at the meeting.
